GOVERNING COUNCIL

The role of the Governing Council is to safeguard the structure, objectives and brand of Smile Asia. It advises the member charities to ensure that all of their plans are aligned. It invites and approves new member charities to the group, as well as new Council Members.

A/Prof (Dr) Vincent Yeow

Co-Chairman

Vincent is Managing Partner of Dream International Holdings and a Visiting Consultant at KK Hospital in Singapore. He is a co-founder of Smile Asia.

Ranjit Barthakur

Co-Chairman

Ranjit is the Founder and Chairman of Globally Managed Services, Executive Chairman of the Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals, and advisor to Tata Sons.

Carl Treleaven

Vice Chairman

Carl is the Chairman and CEO of Westlake Ventures, Inc., a company with investments in printing and software. He is a Rotarian and served as a District Governor.

Chan Kok Choy

Member

Kok Choy is a seasoned banker with extensive experience in the financial sector. He served as the General Manager of Vattanac Bank in Cambodia for over 20 years.

Dr Peter Pang

Member

Peter is the Director of the Plastic & Aesthetic Multidisciplinary Centre at Union Hospital in Hong Kong. He is a dedicated Rotarian and currently serves as a District Governor.

Michael Wu

Member

Michael has been devoted to public welfare since 1999. He is a visiting professor at Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics and actively engaged in development work.

Prof Yoshiaki Hosaka

Member

Hosaka is the Chairman-Emeritus of Plastic Surgery at Showa University in Japan. He currently serves as the Chief Surgeon at the renowned Cosmetic Surgery Centre.

Zainal Azhar Ahmad

Member

Zainal is the Chairman of Cleft Lip & Palate Association of Malaysia (CLAPAM). He has held this position for the past 20 years, playing a vital role in supporting the cleft community.

MANGEMENT COUNCIL

The Management Council manages the implementation of the Smile Asia initiative as advised by the Governing Council. It creates and manages standardised structures and protocols, among other roles. It also enables sharing of resources between member charities.

Abhimanyu Talukdar

Secretary-General

Abhimanyu is Executive Director of The Smile Mission. He completed his Post-Graduate in from Indian Institute of Mass Communication. He is a co-founder of Smile Asia.

Dr Theavy Mok

Member

Theavy is widely recognised as the first plastic surgeon in Cambodia. He was recently appointed as Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, Kingdom of Cambodia.

Melissa Wang

Member

Melissa is Vice Secretary of Future Smile Foundation and Director of Hangzhou Beam Centre, with over 20 years’ experience in children’s medical programmes.

Dr Tarun Sahni

Member

Tarun established India’s first private hyperbaric centre, which he currently heads. He is also the founder of Advent Healthcare, a niche healthcare strategy-consulting firm.

Phoebe Low

Member

Phoebe is Senior Programme Manager of the International Secretariat. Since 2015, she has coordinated over 20 medical missions and various fundraising events.

Conrad Dennis

Member

Conrad is Chief Executive of Mission Smile. He helped set up telemedicine in APPL Estate Hospitals and was on the Managing Committee of a 75-bedded referral hospital.

Deborah Smith

Member

Deborah is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years of experience in surgical and paediatric nursing. She had actively helped develop ambulatory surgical facilities in the United States.

MEDICAL COUNCIL

The International Medical Council is responsible for credentialing of volunteers for international participation. It also advises the International Secretariat on drafting and updating of Smile Asia Medical Policies & Guidelines.

Prof Wang Guomin

Chairperson

Guomin is Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital. He also serves as Chairman of the Medical Board of Future Smile Foundation.

Dr Manbir Batra

Vice Chairperson

Manbir is an anaesthesiologist in Seattle. He volunteered on several medical missions as Team Leader. He also serves on the Medical Council of Bright Faces.

Dr Rashmi Taneja

Member

Rashmi has worked at various prestigious institutions in India and the United States. She has over 30 years of experience in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Prof Shu Maoguo

Member

Maoguo is Director of Plastic Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. He is Vice-Chairman of the Medical Council of Future Smile Foundation.

Prof Lester Mohler

Member

Lester practised plastic surgery from 1970 to 1996. In 1986, he introduced the Mohler Repair, a widely recognised cleft surgery advancement technique named after him.

Dr He Feifang

Member

Feifang is Chief Physician of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He is the Director of Intracranial Hypotension Centre at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital.

Dr Benjamin Herbosa

Member

Benjamin is one of the more established plastic surgeons in Manila. He volunteered on several medical missions and serves as our Medical Advisor for the Philippines.

Dr Josephine Tan

Member

Josephine is a Senior Consultant at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She has volunteered on many medical missions as the Anaesthesiology Team Leader.

Prof Ramkumar V

Member

Ramkumar’s career as an anaesthesiologist spanned over 40 years. He was a professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.

Dr Denise Chan

Member

Denise served as the co-chair and co-fellowship director of the global anaesthesia division at Stanford University. She currently practices in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr Chng Chai Kiat

Member

Chai Kiat is Head & Senior Consultant in Orthodontics at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He is currently serving as the Chief Dental Officer in Singapore.

Dr Mumtaj Abdul Rahim

Member

Mumtaj is a Consultant at the Prince Court Medical Centre. She is also a Visiting Cleft and Cranial Orthodontist for leading Craniofacial Clinics in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Coreen Low

Member

Coreen is Senior Nurse Manager at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Singapore. She proudly received the Distinguished Alumni Award from La Trobe University.
