17-18 July | Singapore

The Asia Student Leadership Conference (‘ASLC’) was initiated in 2012 and was held every year since then. It aims to give students a platform to develop and strengthen their leadership skills and character, to receive training on becoming creators of change, as well as to enhance inter-cultural awareness.

The 2-day conference has attained much success over the years. Student leaders from 20 countries converge in Singapore to join hands with their counterparts to build awareness and learn about core values of service, leadership, education and volunteerism. When students help children in need, they learn first-hand how they can make an impact on the world and help heal humanity.

The conference recognises and celebrates diversity among the participants as students play a vital role in the future of the world.

ASLC 2021

In light of the pandemic, ASLC was cancelled last year. This year, we hope to relaunch the conference in an entirely virtual format, with a theme that sheds light on the situation that the world is facing, thus naming it Lux Brumalis – The Light of Winter.

The pandemic has disrupted the normalcy of everyone’s life. Akin to how winter causes isolation, harshness and detachment, Covid-19 has confined us to our own boundaries and emphasised the border demarcations. The irreversible damage and disruptions caused by the pandemic are immeasurable. Cleft lip and palate patients, in particular, were unable to receive the aid and support that Smile Asia is accustomed to providing. More than just that, winter also signifies the personal struggles that the less fortunate experience.

Given that Smile Asia is a global alliance, we hope that through this conference, we can reunite the international and local student chapters, share about our personal volunteering experiences and strive to be the light of winter – leading and helping the society to adapt, and inspiring further generations of leaders to be the torch bearers, bringing light to others’ winters.

ASLC 2021 is a platform to gain leadership insights with speakers from all walks of life. You will also have the opportunity to interact with students from across Asia – all under a common cause. In light of the enhanced safety measures and travel restrictions, the conference will be held over Zoom and we look forward to having you at the event!
