A name is more than just a word – it’s a declaration of self. But for a child with cleft, every word is a struggle especially the one that should come easiest. A claim to their own identity becomes a daily challenge, and their birth certificate, the very first record of who they are, becomes a painful reminder of a voice they can’t fully use.
That’s why we created the Rebirth Certificate – a symbolic birth certificate that reveals how a child pronounced their name before surgery, and how they reclaimed the correct pronunciation after. This illustrates how surgery restores confidence, dignity, and the power to say “This is me”.
